This year the Vuelta starts from Nîmes in Provence. That is not very far from Toulouse where Wandeo is based (just under 300km). So I might go watching the start of the pros for one of the 3 annual big tours with the Giro and the Tour. Nîmes is a very nice town to visit and around the city, you have thousand possibilities to ride. Even if the time trial route is not the prettiest one, it have the merit of point out the the fact that Nîmes’s is a beautiful town.
Stage 2 is along the sea and it will be a stage very fast with probably a sprint finish in Gruissan.
Stage 3 is the most scenic of the french stages. Starting in the little town of Prades, the route takes the vuelta riders toward the Pyrenees, Spain and Andorra. Two big climbs with col de la Perche in France, coll de la Rabassa and l’alto de la Comella in Andorra. The last town crossed in Spain for the day is La Seu d’Urgell. This is one of my favorite place to ride road bike and mountain bike!!!
Here is the presentation of the Vuelta 2017:
The first stage is a 14km team time trial in Nîmes:
Stage 2 is for sprinters, Nîmes to Gruissan. The wind can make it very hard and echelons can could make damages among the contenders. Even if it is only stage 2, it is possible to loose some time already.
Stage 3 is in the Pyrenees Orientales, Prades to Andorra. This stage crosses 2 borders France/Spain and Spain/ Andorra. As the first mountain stage of this 2017 edition Vuelta, the contenders should be careful and they should just avoid loosing time not being in the main field. Anyway, it will be good to see them climbing in Andorra!
